Amirene Up Up And Away To Applecote

Our trip over to Belguim was a success and after a 9 week wait our little Begium Buns have arrived.

Esther was scanned at 4 weeks which showed at least 9 precious babies but never did we think there would be 12.

Following a text book pregnancy Esther began to whelp on 30th August.

5 of her puppies were all born at home all within 3 hours, unfortunately though the 6th little puppy was a little slow in making an appearance so following a trip to the vets and tests run it was decided that as the puppies and Esther were starting to get a little distressed and since it had been some time since her last puppy was born, the last remaining puppies should be born by emergency ceasarean section. Upon starting the operation it appeared that Esther had a uterine tortion and would have never managed to produce the remaining puppies by herself.

Following this sadly despite all of the efforts made by ourselves and the vet staff  6 of the 7 remaining babies didn't make it and were born sleeping ~ truely heartbreaking. Nothing can bring back the babies which Esther lost but we have to be greatful that both Esther and her 6 puppies are now safe and thriving, gaining weight by the hour despite their bumpy start to life.
