'This dog looked outstanding right from my first look at him and certainly did not disappoint when I went over him, in fact he actually gave me goose bumps!, presented in gleaming darker golden coat and in great condition he worked really well with his handler, beautiful overall balance to his outline, classical type of head with balance and depth without any coarseness, dark eye and good pigment, good length to neck and strong forechest, correct layback and angle to shoulder with balanced length and return of upper arm, straight front legs and tight feet all round, deep and well sprung ribs that are carried back to a short coupling and strong loin, strong thigh with good bend to stifle and correct let down of hock, level topline and tail held while moving with very good rear driving action and good reach in front combining to give a balanced ground covering action. I was delighted to award this boy the CC and later, in agreement with my Co Judge, the BOB as he fulfilled my understanding of the standard so well.'

Wednesday 9th August United Retriever Club Championship Show

~ Judge Mary Neil (Moloko) ~

2nd Mid-Limit Dog

'What a picture, dripping in a beautifully presented mid golden full coat that almost sparkled in the sunshine. His head must be one of the most endearing I’ve ever seen with softness without looking anything other than masculine, enhanced by his gentle eye and super pigmentation. Whenever you look at this boy he’s stood correctly, four square on good bone and the best of feet. His angles are balanced thoughout and he scores on his correct body proportions. He is short coupled and has a dead level topline and his rear quarters were in hard workmanlike muscle tone with bend in his stifle and short rear pasterns. His movement is economical with reach in front and drive from his hocks.

Such a close decision.'

'I was most impressed by this lad who caught my eye on my first look around the ring for his striking outline and proportions. His head is so well chiselled with a soft and kind expression. Lovely dark eye and pigment. Straightest of forelegs and neat feet. Clean, muscular neck leading so well to good shoulder layback and he has an equally good upper arm and corresponding rear. Super, short hind pasterns.

A cracking topline and tailset, totally held whilst moving. Excellent body properties and carrying ideal weight. Scored in freedom of movement, covering the ground so smoothly both for and aft and his beautiful mid gold coat, with waves was perfectly presented completing the picture. Handled to advantage in a close-run contest.

I was delighted to award him the RCC, his good forechest clinching the award'
